Train 1 Sabah Wildlife Department staff and 4 local people in the field on non-invasive sampling. Train 30 undergraduates and 10 Sabah Wildlife Department staff for 6 weeks in conservation & population biology, molecular genetics and behavioural ecology. 2 Msc students. Produce Malay & English booklet on developing molecular techniques applied in conservation biology for under- and post-graduate students. Publicity campaign. Produce management plan & submit to Sabah Wildlife Department. Create database of orangutan distribution, population fragementation & genetic information at the University of Malaysia-Sabah. Establish research unit for rainforest species conservation at University of Malaysia-Sabah. Disseminate results at international workshop.
