Summary
Virachey National Park (VNP) forms the core of one of the most biologically-important and endangered tropical forests in the world, supporting northern yellow-cheeked crested gibbon, clouded leopard, Asian elephant, and Sunda pangolin. It is deeply connected with Indigenous Peoples' cultures and livelihoods. External development pressures and short-term economic interests are prompting shifts towards unsustainable resource extraction and encroachment. Working with local people, the project will develop conservation zonation and management plans, strengthen indigenous communities’ capacity, and support sustainable livelihoods.
