Summary
This project aims to support poverty alleviation and biodiversity conservation in coastal communities surrounding Grand-Béréby (located in the district of Bas-Sassandra, region of San Pédro, Côte d’Ivoire), through:
(1) increased knowledge of marine biodiversity and fisheries resources underpinning the creation of a community-managed marine protected area;
(2) increased environmental awareness and stewardship;
(3) a diversified skills base that enhances employment opportunities; and
(4) community-business partnerships that promote fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from natural capital.
