Summary
This project seeks to improve security and resilience of snow leopards, prey and biodiversity at two model sites in Nepal by institutionalizing conservation financing and stewardship at local levels. Specific objectives are (1) improving herder practices while reducing wildlife-human conflict; (2) piloting snow leopard-linked enterprise/s through training, finance and market linkages; and (3) enabling local institutions and stakeholders through Nepal's newly devolved governance structures to obtain investments and influence policy. Monitoring systems will emphasize adaptive management, and sharing key lessons. Strengthened local institutions & livelihoods, diversified enterprises, reduced livestock losses, and climate-smart villagers committed to sustaining stable snow leopard and prey populations and better overall biodiversity
