Summary

To transfer skills and technology necessary to produce reliable maps of habitats and change in habitats from multi-spectral and SAR imagery. To strengthen the institutional capability of the Department of Biology and the Faculty of Science of the University.To strengthen the ability of Sierra Leone to fulfil its Natural Environment Action Plan (NEAP) and to develop its National Strategy on Sustainable Development (NSSD) (obliged to produce by 2005).To produce example maps and statistics of habitats and changes in habitats over the period 1991 to 2001.To raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity and the natural environment among the general population and politicians.To provide a spatial and conceptual framework for ongoing and future biodiversity assessment and monitoring
